Analisis pelindungan privasi pengguna pada artefak browser TOR, Brave, dan Epic Privacy menggunakan memory forensic

Browser merupakan aplikasi yang digunakan untuk melakukan aktivitas di internet baik untuk mencari informasi, bersosialisasi, juga melakukan transaksi. Setiap aktivitas yang dilakukan menggunakan browser pasti meninggalkan jejak pada komputer. Layanan seperti perbankan dan media sosial sering diakses pengguna menggunakan browser dan memerlukan data privasi pengguna untuk mengaksesnya. Data privasi pengguna bisa saja disalahgunakan oleh pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab, sehingga keamanan data privasi pengguna harus diperhatikan. Beberapa browser seperti TOR, Brave, dan Epic Privacy mengklaim dengan fitur mode privat dapat mengamankan data privasi pengguna. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik memory forensic yang sebelumnya dilakukan tindakan mengakses layanan internet banking dan media sosial. Skenario penelitian mengacu pada NIST SP 800-86 dengan tahapan collect, examine, analyze, dan report. Proses akuisisi dilakukan menggunakan tool Winpmem pada tiga kondisi yaitu, browser dalam keadaan terbuka (akun masih dalam keadaan login), browser dalam keadaan tertutup (akun sudah dalam keadaan logout), dan browser sudah dilakukan uninstall atau delete. Hasil akuisisi memori tersebut kemudian dilakukan analisis menggunakan tool HxD Hex Editor untuk menemukan data privasi pengguna yang terekspos di memori. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah data privasi pengguna masih dapat terekspos melalui proses memory forensic terhadap browser yang mengamankan data privasi pengguna dan perbandingan persentase data privasi pengguna mampu menunjukan kinerja masing-masing browser dalam mengamankan data privasi pengguna. --

A browser is an application that is used to carry out activities on the internet both to find information, socialize, and make transactions. Every activity carried out using a browser must leave traces on the computer. Services such as banking and social media are often accessed by users using browsers and require user privacy data to access them. User privacy data can be misused by irresponsible parties, so the security of user privacy data must be considered. Some browsers such as TOR, Brave, and Epic Privacy claim that the private mode feature can secure user privacy data. This study uses a forensic memory technique that was previously carried out by accessing internet banking and social media services. The research scenario refers to NIST SP 800-86 with collect, examine, analyze, and report stages. The acquisition process is carried out using the Winpmem tool in three conditions, namely, the browser is open (the account is still logged in), the browser is closed (the account is logged out), and the browser has been uninstalled or deleted. The results of the memory acquisition are then analyzed using the HxD Hex Editor tool to find user privacy data exposed in memory. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that user privacy data can still be exposed through a forensic memory process to browsers that secure user privacy data and a comparison of the percentage of user privacy data is able to show the performance of each browser in securing user privacy data.
