Analisis Komparatif Protokol VPN pada IPv6 Berdasarkan Quality of Service

Abstrak:
Meningkatnya pengguna internet menyebabkan menipisnya persediaan IPv4 dan bertambahnya insiden kebocoran data. Sehingga perlu adanya inovasi untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, seperti beralih menggunakan IPv6 dan menerapkan teknologi VPN untuk mengamankan komunikasi di internet. IPv6 menyediakan lebih banyak alamat IP dibandingkan IPv4. VPN berfungsi untuk mengamankan jaringan dari berbagai jenis serangan dari luar jaringan dengan membuat sebuah tunnel sebagai jalur pertukaran data. Membangun teknologi VPN dapat menggunakan fitur yang tersedia pada mikrotik. Namun penggunakan VPN dapat menyebabkan delay yang akan berpengaruh pada performa QoS. Oleh karena itu pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan perbandingan protokol VPN WireGuard dan L2TP/IPSec pada IPv6 berdasarkan parameter Quality of Service yang meliputi delay, jitter, packet loss, throughput, dan MOS dengan tiga pengujian yaitu iPerf3, FTP, dan remote desktop. Hasil dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa protokol L2TP/IPSec lebih baik daripada protokol WireGuard dilihat dari performa yang dihasilkan pada pengujian dengan FTP dan remote desktop.
Abstract:
The increasing number of internet users has led to the depletion of IPv4 addresses and an increase in data leakage incidents. Therefore, there is a need for innovation to address these issues, such as transitioning to IPv6 and implementing VPN technology to secure internet communications. IPv6 provides a larger pool of IP addresses compared to IPv4. VPN function to secure networks against various types of external attacks by creating a tunnel as a pathway for data exchange. Building VPN technology can utilize features available on mikrotik. However, using VPN may cause delays that can impact Quality of Service (QoS) performance. Hence, this study aims to compare the WireGuard and L2TP/IPSec VPN protocols on IPv6 based on Quality of Service parameters, including delay, jitter, packet loss, throughput, and MOS (Mean Opinion Score), using three tests: iPerf3, FTP, and remote desktop. The results of this study reveal that the L2TP/IPSec protocol performs better than the WireGuard protocol in terms of performance observed in the FTP and remote desktop tests.
